A little trick on How To Eat More Vegetables
Vegetables are a must have in our diet. We evolved as herbivores not carnivores, our long intestines and teeth testify in favor of this, and yet very little people have enough of these delicious and colorful foods. Vegetables are packed with nutrients and antioxidants that help us stay healthy and younger. Vegetables are the only type of food that you can eat a lot of and never gain weight. They have very little calories. A lot of people don’t like vegetables because they are bitter or because they simply don’t taste good. That is not a good reason why you shouldn’t be eating them. There are tons of recipes that are delicious out on the web that are free or you can do adopt my new habit.
I learned this new habit from Vince delMonte, the skinny kid gone bodybuilder and I love it. Doctors and nutritionist recommend we have about 5 servings of vegetables a day, that may seem a lot to some but with this cool trick you can have them all at once.
The Cool Trick
All you need is a blender or one of those juice machines and some vegetables. As you have probably guessed by now you will be making some veggie shakes. You must be thinking, “Yuke!!!”. I thought this to, but to my surprise they taste really good. If you like vegetables I suggest you try your own recipes, and If you don’t I recommend you search Dan Topkis (you can read his blog here). Dan is a smoothie guru and he has these awesome recipes. I first got to know him through Jon Benson’s the Every Other Day Diet. In this diet there are a couple of his recipes which I really liked… here is one of my favorites.
Broccoli Surprise(Serves 2)
Protein: Produce:Whey, Egg Whites (powder or actual)or Soy Protein
Vegetables: Broccoli,Red bell pepper,Yellow onion,Celery
Extras: Dulse or kelp powder, Salt, cumin and ginger to taste
Instructions:1. Blend all until smooth.
2. Add sea salt or other seasonings if desired.
This is a great way to get brocoli in your diet. Brocoli is awesome for osteoporosis patients because it is packed with calcium (just as much as milk), and it is also well recommended for cancer patients. I personally love brocoli and I eat it raw, but if your not such a big fan this shake will let you benefit from all its nutrients, and you won’t even have to taste it.
