The best way to burn fat and save time is by doing a little something called interval training.

Interval training is quite simple.  All you really have to do is change the intensity of whatever exercise you are doing (e.g swimming, jogging, jump rope, etc) back and forth.

Interval training is based on high intensity intervals and low intensity intervals.  A high intensity interval can be  30 seconds long and low intensity intervals can be 1min long.  There is no strict rule you have to follow for better results.  Scientific evidence has proved that some intervals are better than others.

Try different ratios of high vs low.  For me 1:2 is the hardest, but you can fee l free and try 1:3 or 1:4.  This means that for what ever unit of time you choose, you rest double, triple or quadruple the time.
